Our Community
Located
less than five minutes from the Lehigh Valley International Airport,
Rt.
22, and the Lehigh Valley Mall area, the boroughs of Catasauqua and
North
Catasauqua are home to approximately 9,000 residents. These two
municipalities,
along with Hanover Township, Lehigh County, comprise the Catasauqua
Area
School District.

The
name "Catasauqua" is derived from the dialect of the Lenni-Lenape
Indian
tribe who inhabited this area of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
Originally
known for its iron industry and silk mills, "Catty" is a small town
that
has retained its rich cultural heritage. Presently, Catasauqua
is
a suburban community in close proximity to Allentown, Bethlehem,
Northampton,
and numerous industrial parks.
The
three schools in the Catasauqua Area School District include Sheckler
Elementary
School - for students in kindergarten to fourth grade, Catasauqua
Middle
School
- for students in grades 5 to 8, and the Catasauqua High School - for
students
in grades 9 to 12. The total enrollment of the district is over
1700 students and the teaching staff includes 130 full-time teachers
and 27 instructional aides or part-time teachers.
