    Purposes of Action Research:

    -         To create a climate of school improvement

    -         To promote professional problem-solving

    -         To enhance decision-making

    • To promote reflection

     

    Objective: To conduct an informal research study by gathering data pertaining to a specific research question of interest to a teacher or group of teachers and modifying practice as a result of the conclusions derived from the research.

     

    Action Research Guidelines:

     

    -         Action Research Consists of Four Steps:

    o   Selecting a Focus

    o   Collecting Data

    o   Analyzing & Interpreting Data

    o   Drawing Conclusions & Sharing Findings

     

    -         Action Research Documentation:

    o   Action Research Proposal (one form per group)

    o   Mid-Year Action Research Progress Report (one form per group)

    o   Year-End Action Research Summary of Findings (one form per group)

     

    -         Required Documentation Completion Timeline:

    October

    Complete the Action Research Proposal and upload into Teachscape.

    October—February

    Ongoing data collection.

     

    February

    Complete Mid-Year Action Research Progress Report and upload into Teachscape.

    February—April

    Ongoing data collection

     

    April

    Complete Year-End Action Research Summary of Findings Report and upload into Teachscape.

    May

    Voluntary Sharing of Findings/Discussion with faculty.
