Science Curriculum (K-8)

Participation in the Science It's Elementary State Initiative and the Investing in Innovation (i3) partnership with Asset Inc. provided Catasauqua Area School District with the foundation for the implementation of hands-on, inquiry-based science curriculum.

Through the use of inquiry based science modules, elementary students learn science concepts and apply science skills by doing hands-on activities and experiments. Classrooms are provided with science kits enabling children to experiment and see the “big picture” of how science impacts our lives, studying topics such as weather, water, ideas & inventions, electricity, and plant growth.

The  CASD K-8 module-based science curriculum supports efforts to better prepare Pennsylvania’s students for the competitive environment of the emerging global economy. Intensive math and science training is increasingly in demand in many workplaces, and high-skill careers often require employees with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
