Purposes of Action Research:

  • To create a climate of school improvement
  • To promote professional problem-solving
  • To enhance decision-making
  • To promote reflection

 

Objective:

To conduct an informal research study by gathering data pertaining to a specific research question of interest to a teacher or group of teachers and modifying practice as a result of the conclusions derived from the research.

 

Action Research Guidelines:

  • Action Research Consists of Four Steps:
    • Selecting a Focus
    • Collecting Data
    • Analyzing & Interpreting Data
    • Drawing Conclusions & Sharing Findings

Action Research Documentation:

  • Action Research Proposal (one form per group)
  • Mid-Year Action Research Progress Report (one form per group)
  • Year-End Action Research Summary of Findings (one form per group)
