District Communication
At Catasauqua Area School District, we believe that clear and timely communication is key to a successful school experience. To keep our families informed, we utilize two primary platforms—SchoolMessenger and ParentSquare.
Each serves a specific purpose, ensuring you receive everything from critical safety alerts to daily classroom updates in the most efficient way possible.
SchoolMessenger
Critical Alerts & Official Notices
SchoolMessenger is our primary tool for high-priority and district-wide notifications. We use this system to ensure that essential information reaches every family quickly via phone, email, or text.
You will receive SchoolMessenger notifications regarding:
- District or school-specific safety alerts and emergency notifications.
- Updates regarding school delays, early dismissals, or full-day closings due to inclement weather.
- General "Important Information" and mandatory beginning-of-year updates.
- Notifications when report cards are ready for review.
ParentSquare
Daily School Life & Engagement
ParentSquare is our hub for the "day-to-day" happenings across the district. This platform is designed to keep you connected with your child’s specific school and teachers through an interactive, easy-to-use interface.
Look to ParentSquare for school and classroom updates, including:
- Lunch menus, school calendars, and reminders for upcoming events or activities.
- Direct updates from teachers, flyers, and news regarding clubs or co-curricular programs.
- Ability to send direct messages to your child's teacher(s).
- Updates on practice schedules, games, and any last-minute event changes (upper level athletic teams, only).
SchoolMessenger Notification System (PowerSchool)
To ensure your child’s information is current and accurate, it’s important to complete the online PowerSchool forms for the School Messenger Notification System. Your prompt attention to this task helps us maintain a safe and efficient learning environment for all students.
How to Complete the Forms:
- Log in to PowerSchool using your credentials.
- Navigate to the "Forms" section.
- Find and select "Emergency Contacts / School Messenger."
- Follow the prompts to fill out the required information.
The process is quick and should only take a few minutes, but it’s crucial for providing the best care and support for your child.
Opt-In for SMS Notifications:
Stay informed with important updates by opting in for SMS notifications. Text 67587 from your mobile phone to receive the latest news, events, weather-related delays, closures, and emergencies affecting your child's school day.
Instructions for Addressing Call Issues with School Messenger Alerts:
If you experienced issues receiving a phone call from our School Messenger system (ie: you did not receive a call), please follow these steps to ensure you receive future alerts. This issue may occur due to spam and robocall filtering systems used by certain carriers, such as AT&T, Cricket, and T-Mobile, which might mistakenly flag our number, 610-264-5571, as spam.
To resolve this issue, we recommend the following based on your carrier:
For AT&T Users:
- Download the AT&T Call Protect App from the App Store or Google Play.
- Open the app and navigate to Settings.
- Add 610-264-5571 to your list of approved numbers or save it in your phone’s contacts.
For Cricket Wireless Users:
- Cricket uses the same AT&T Call Protect App. Follow the same steps listed above.
For T-Mobile Users:
- Log in to your T-Mobile account or download the T-Mobile Scam Shield App.
- Navigate to Settings and select the option to manage blocked or flagged numbers.
- Add 610-264-5571 to your Allowed Numbers list or save it in your contacts.
For Other Carriers:
- Save 610-264-5571 in your phone’s contacts to reduce the chance of the number being flagged as spam.
We also recommend:
- Providing an SMS (text) number through the Emergency Contact Form.
- Opting in to receive text messages by following the SMS opt-in instructions shared earlier.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your attention to this matter to ensure timely communication. If you continue to experience issues, please contact the district office for assistance.
