We're headed back to the classroom!
Here are some important announcements:
To have enough room to social distance, we have moved to Room 303. This is directly across the hall from Room 304. It is much larger, and there are large windows to bring in natural light!
We are going to try to use technology as much as possible, rather than pencil/paper. This will help lesson the spread of germs, as well as provided practice in case we have to return to remote learning. (We hope not!)
Many parents have asked whether their student needs everything on the grade level supply list. Typically, a life skills student will use 2 spiral notebooks, 2 pocket folders, and pencils. In addition, tissues and hand sanitizer are always welcome! It is very important that your child have working earbuds or headphones.
We will be using 2 new curriculums in our class this year. We have a new Math Curriculum (Connecting Math Concepts) and a new comprehensive curriculum called Unique Learning System. (ULS) We will continue to supplement reading with Quick Reads.
Unfortunately, we will not be taking field trips or taking part in our school wide jobs for the foreseeable future. We are fortunate though, that the ULS program has activities to practice ADL and Vocational skills.
This year will certainly offer challenges, and in all honesty, some obstacles and frustration. We will be spending class time working on lessening stress and self regulating our emotions. (This will benefit the teachers as well!) We are remaining optimistic, and promise to do our very best to provide your children with the best year possible!!
