The guide outlines actionable steps students can take to achieve their college and career goals, focusing on specific, teachable knowledge and skills.

The guide is organized into three sections, each addressing a different aspect of the framework: college readiness, career readiness, and the integration of college and career readiness. Simple concept maps and readiness charts are provided to help navigators communicate the necessary skills and knowledge for each area, emphasizing how students should approach their planning with both education and career goals in mind.
